PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
