19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
